The Mission of the Abbie Shelter is to promote safety, independence, and empowerment to victims of domestic and sexual violence. We believe all victims and survivors need access to information and resources and have the right to make decisions in their own lives. We believe our community must willingly assume a significant role in preventing and responding to domestic and sexual violence. Flathead Valley Children’s Advocacy Center
The judicial system can be especially confusing for children who find themselves as victims of crime. The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office oversees the Children’s Advocacy Center in Kalispell. This center provides a comfortable environment for children to talk to professionals who are trained in interviewing children. Most agencies in the Flathead Valley partner with the Child Advocacy Center and use their resources. A team of workers in different disciplines come together here to make the child’s experience easier and eliminate the need for the child to retell his/her story many times. Immigration Customs Enforcement Victim Notification
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), is committed to protecting the public and ensuring that the rights of victims are carefully observed. HSI administers the Victim Notification Program which allows eligible victims and witnesses to obtain reliable and timely information regarding a criminal alien’s release from custody. However, victims and witnesses are required to register with HSI in order to receive notification of a criminal alien’s release.
